Pokemon Celebrations Ultra Premium Collection
Pokemon Celebrations Ultra Premium Collection Is A Great Investment
In our previous article about Pokemon 25th Anniversary Cards, we concluded that most of the products in this set are not worth holding long-term, due to the overall great print quality and the overabundance of cards being released in the upcoming waves. However, there is one box that is absolutely worth holding long-term as a sealed product; the Pokemon Celebrations Ultra Premium Collection!
The set releases on October 22, 2021 with an MSRP of $119.99 and includes:
- 2 commemorative metal cards featuring Base Set Pikachu and Base Set Charizard
- 1 special gold version of Pikachu V
- 1 special gold version of Poke Ball
- A stunning Charizard and Pikachu enamel pin
- 1 metal Pokemon coin
- 17 Pokemon TCG: Celebrations 4-card booster packs
- 8 additional Pokemon TCG booster packs
- A player’s guide to game mechanics throughout the Pokemon TCG
- 3 storage boxes to keep everything together
- A code card for the Pokemon TCG Online
Unfortunately, we have some bad news if you haven’t been able to pre-order one; it’s sold out everywhere (no surprises there). And unlike the other products in this set, this will be hard to find at retailers without pre-ordering it, so don’t bother running to big retail stores like Target or Walmart after October 22nd. A sealed box is already selling for 3-4x above retail price in secondary markets!
Why This Is A Great Investment
There are two main reasons why you need to get your hands on this product:
- Limited Quantities
This will be the only product in the Celebrations set that won’t be overprinted into oblivion. This is because most (if not all) Ultra Premium Collections in the Pokemon TCG are never reprinted. And unlike other Pokemon products, they usually aren’t released in multiple waves. This was evidenced by the Zacian & Zamazenta Ultra-Premium Collection released in 2020. Although that set has only appreciated 1.5x (we’ll explain why below), it never saw a reprint after its initial release!
- The Gold Card Promos Are Highly Sought After
The reason the Zacian & Zamazenta box didn’t appreciate in value much is that the extras and cover cards in the set were underwhelming. This isn’t the case with the Celebrations Ultra Premium Collection, where the gold card variants of Base Set Pikachu and Base Set Charizard are the most hyped extras in a limited edition Pokemon product in years. And with no reprints, buying this product will be the only way to own both of these gorgeous, golden metal Pokemon cards!
Final Thoughts
If you’re able to get your hands on one, don’t open it and hold it as a long-term sealed product!
